My experience in business, and in life, makes me more confident on how positive thinking can get you where you want to go.</span></span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal" style="line-height: 15pt; background: white; mso-margin-top-alt: auto; mso-margin-bottom-alt: auto;"><span style="font-family: Arial; color: black; font-size: xx-small;"><span style="font-family: Arial; color: black; font-size: 9pt;">It is said by Sir. David Ogilvy that during the early days of founding the legendary Ogilvy ad agency he’d go in the office and ask: “Well? Did Coca Cola call already?” The same question, every single morning, until they actually did. Coincidence? You may think so, but also in this Public Relations business, I can testify: positive thinking integrated into our lives can make a difference.</span></span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal" style="line-height: 15pt; background: white; mso-margin-top-alt: auto; mso-margin-bottom-alt: auto;"><span style="font-family: Arial; color: black; font-size: xx-small;"><span style="font-family: Arial; color: black; font-size: 9pt;">Here are 5 suggestions:</span></span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal" style="line-height: 15pt; background: white; mso-margin-top-alt: auto; mso-margin-bottom-alt: auto;"><strong><strong><span style="font-family: Arial; color: black; font-size: xx-small;"><span style="font-family: Arial; color: black; font-size: 9pt;">1. The power of imagination.</span></span></strong></strong><span style="font-family: Arial; color: black; font-size: xx-small;"><span style="font-family: Arial; color: black; font-size: 9pt;"> It is taken for granted, not fully utilized and seldom used to leverage your professional direction. The truth in contrast is, – imagination is the very first –and very far- achievement towards where you want to get. It could be picturing yourself with a new client, picturing your new office, imagining a media coverage piece on recent major achievements of yours. Anything you picture on a daily basis consistently can materialize physically.</span></span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal" style="line-height: 15pt; background: white; mso-margin-top-alt: auto; mso-margin-bottom-alt: auto;"><strong><strong><span style="font-family: Arial; color: black; font-size: xx-small;"><span style="font-family: Arial; color: black; font-size: 9pt;">2. Act as if you already possess what you want.</span></span></strong></strong><span style="font-family: Arial; color: black; font-size: xx-small;"><span style="font-family: Arial; color: black; font-size: 9pt;"> Sometimes we hold back on actions or emotions just because we “aren’t there yet”. A simple tip: Pretend you are there and you’ll find yourself happier, and more fulfilled with what you are currently doing.</span></span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal" style="line-height: 15pt; background: white; mso-margin-top-alt: auto; mso-margin-bottom-alt: auto;"><strong><strong><span style="font-family: Arial; color: black; font-size: xx-small;"><span style="font-family: Arial; color: black; font-size: 9pt;">3. Communicate positively. </span></span></strong></strong><span style="font-family: Arial; color: black; font-size: xx-small;"><span style="font-family: Arial; color: black; font-size: 9pt;">People are often skeptic of their abilities, and great PR people (and generally business people) recognize that passion is key. It is crucial not only to be passionate about your own job, but on the brand, firm, personality you’re representing. Your positive passion on a product can radiate far, and will be genuinely reflected in your media pitches, releases and placements.</span></span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal" style="line-height: 15pt; background: white; mso-margin-top-alt: auto; mso-margin-bottom-alt: auto;"><strong><strong><span style="font-family: Arial; color: black; font-size: xx-small;"><span style="font-family: Arial; color: black; font-size: 9pt;">4. What you give out is what comes back.</span></span></strong></strong><span style="font-family: Arial; color: black; font-size: xx-small;"><span style="font-family: Arial; color: black; font-size: 9pt;"> You claim you can’t do something? It’s certainly harder if you don’t try. Express positive outcomes to ideas, initiatives and efforts. Don’t look for why it WOULDN’T work. It is well reflected in the methods of professional brainstorming. You do not rule out ANYTHING that is brought up. Apply it to something in your life.</span></span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal" style="line-height: 15pt; background: white; mso-margin-top-alt: auto; mso-margin-bottom-alt: auto;"><strong><strong><span style="font-family: Arial; color: black; font-size: xx-small;"><span style="font-family: Arial; color: black; font-size: 9pt;">5. Communicate.</span></span></strong></strong><span style="font-family: Arial; color: black; font-size: xx-small;"><span style="font-family: Arial; color: black; font-size: 9pt;"> Yes, it’s a funny tip to offer communicators and public relations practitioners but it’s easily forgotten and is being deserted. Pitching the media? Connect over the phone. Following up? Give ‘em a call! When we express ourselves verbally (and positively) we attract better results. Less space for gaps in mutual understanding, and better personal relationships.</span></span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal" style="line-height: 15pt; background: white; mso-margin-top-alt: auto; mso-margin-bottom-alt: auto;"><span style="font-family: Arial; color: black; font-size: xx-small;"><span style="font-family: Arial; color: black; font-size: 9pt;">There you have it. 5 basic tips for the Public Relations practitioner and beginning positive-thinkers, but if applied daily it can be life changing.</span></span></p>
<h1 style="background: white;"><strong><span style="font-family: Arial; color: black; font-size: x-large;"><span style="font-family: Arial; color: black; font-size: 24pt;">…</span></span></strong></h1>
<p class="MsoNormal" style="line-height: 15pt; margin-bottom: 3.75pt; background: #def3ff; margin-left: 0in; margin-right: 0in; mso-margin-top-alt: 3.75pt;"><span style="font-family: Arial; color: black; font-size: xx-small;"><span style="font-family: Arial; color: black; font-size: 9pt;">Ronn Torossian is president and CEO of <a title="http://www.5wpr.com/" href="http://www.5wpr.com/" target="_blank"><span style="color: #800080;">5WPR</span></a>, one of the 20 largest independent PR firms in the U.S. Named one of the top “40 Under 40″ by PR Week &amp; Advertising Age, Torossian was a semi-finalist for the Ernst &amp; Young 2010 Entrepreneur of the Year Award, and his PR agency works with a roster of iconic brands.</span></span></p>

As June 1st approached, Kymaro made note that it was supposed to be Marilyn Monroe&#8217;s 84th birthday. So.. as our image of Monroe remains quite vivid on her sex appeal and stark beauty, Kymaro wished to remind us that after all, she too would have probably been a good Kymaro customer. She&#8217;s known for embracing her body, being a real woman and didn&#8217;t hide it - with her size 10 and all. </span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal" style="MARGIN: 0in 0in 0pt"><span style="font-family: Arial; font-size: 11pt;"> </span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal" style="MARGIN: 0in 0in 0pt"><span style="font-family: Arial; color: #333333; font-size: 11pt;">In her honor, <a href="http://www.kymaro.com/"><span style="color: purple;">Kymaro</span></a>, the body shaper linegave away free products! The first 84 people who uploaded their pictures to the <a href="http://www.facebook.com/home.php?#!/pages/Kymaro/166322507384?ref=search&amp;sid=h-OojItlBHHVe7d_IV5DVA.1623339206..1"><span style="color: #1d7292;">Kymaro Facebook Fan Page</span></a>on June 1st received a free <a title="Body Shaper" href="http://www.kymarobodyshaper.org/" target="_blank">Kymaro body shaper</a>! How clever!</span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal" style="MARGIN: 0in 0in 0pt"><span style="font-family: Arial; color: #333333; font-size: 11pt;">Although Kymaro is sold at stores like CVS and Target, online is a huge outlet for both its sales and its PR. the combination is effective Social Media marketing is just one smart way of doing it right. Bu this simple, quick, creative promotion Kymaro attracted new <a title="Facebook Page" href="http://www.facebook.com/home.php?#!/pages/Kymaro/166322507384?ref=search&amp;sid=h-OojItlBHHVe7d_IV5DVA.1623339206..1" target="_blank">Facebook fans</a>, created a buzz around the promotion, introduced its flag product and made 55 happy consumers share the joy with their family &amp; friends who will probably become the next 500 clients.. Now THAT&#8217;s marketing!</span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal" style="MARGIN: 0in 0in 0pt"><span style="font-family: Arial; color: #333333; font-size: 11pt;">What&#8217;s so special about the </span><span style="font-family: Arial; color: black; font-size: 11pt;"><strong><a title="Product" href="http://www.kymarobodyshaper.org/" target="_blank">Kymaro Body Shaper</a>? </strong>Well it<strong> </strong></span><span style="font-family: Arial; font-size: 11pt;">comes in a variety of styles and shapes that range from cami with clear straps for tank tops, to full upper body and leg and butt shapers. They&#8217;re Adjustable, comfortable and non-rolling, this line will reign you in without wearing you down. </span></p>

<p><span style="font-family: Times New Roman; font-size: small;"><span style="font-size: x-small;">First, you use the Kymaro Body Scrub Exfoliator – with its dual exfoliating and conditioning action – all over your body while in the shower.  Next, dry off and smooth the Kymaro Sunless Tanning Lotion all over your body – paying special attention to knees, elbows and ankles.  Lastly, use the included Light Wand to check your application and make sure you didn’t miss any spots.  No more waiting until you go out in public to see if your sunless tan looks great!  Now you have a chance to correct any mistakes or missed spots before being embarrassed in front of your friends and family.</span></span></p>

<p><em><span style="font-family: Times New Roman; font-size: small;"><span style="font-size: x-small;">How much does it cost, you ask?  Well, consider this:</span></span></em></p>
<p><span style="font-family: Times New Roman; font-size: small;"><span style="font-size: x-small;">-World class spas often charge over $100 per treatment of products just like these</span></span></p>
<p><span style="font-family: Times New Roman; font-size: small;"><span style="font-size: x-small;">-Professional sunless tanning salons frequently ask for $20-$30 per treatment</span></span></p>

<p><span style="font-family: Times New Roman; font-size: small;"><span style="font-size: x-small;">For someone like me who desperately needs a tan but has neither the time, patience or money to actually go about it, the </span></span><a href="http://www.ubuyez.com/index.php?main_page=product_info&amp;products_id=40" target="_blank"><span style="font-family: Times New Roman; font-size: small;"><span style="color: #2b5672; font-size: x-small;">Kymaro Sunless Tanning System</span></span></a><span style="font-family: Times New Roman; font-size: small;"><span style="font-size: x-small;"> works out perfectly!  This way I get to tan quickly and easily, check and make sure I’m not all streaky before I leave the house, and order some simple supplies monthly that are a fraction of the cost of traditional tanning options.  Perfect!</span></span></p>

<p><span style="font-family: Arial; font-size: x-small;"><span style="font-family: Arial; font-size: 11pt;">With two diabetic parents, no health insurance and two younger siblings to help care for, Alisha Pavlik’s prospects of a fun night at her junior prom seemed pretty dim.</span></span></p>
<p><span style="font-family: Arial; font-size: x-small;"><span style="font-family: Arial; font-size: 11pt;">The 16-year-old student at Shanksville-Stonycreek High School in Somerset County had been busy taking her mom, Connie Pavlik, to the hospital, while her often-unemployed dad, Mark Pavlik, was working at a nuclear power plant in Texas, trying to earn enough money to pay the hospital bills.</span></span></p>
<p><span style="font-family: Arial; font-size: x-small;"><span style="font-family: Arial; font-size: 11pt;">While she took on the role of family caregiver, forgoing her favorite pastimes — cheerleading and spending time with friends — Alisha would daydream about having a night off and attending the prom.</span></span></p>
<p><span style="font-family: Arial; font-size: x-small;"><span style="font-family: Arial; font-size: 11pt;">That dream came true earlier this month, when Alisha was named a winner in the $2,000 “Say Yes to the Prom Dress” makeover from <span style="color: navy;"><span style="color: navy;"><a title="http://www.shapenslim.com/" href="http://www.shapenslim.com/" target="_blank"><span style="color: #2b5672;">Kymaro</span></a></span></span>, the health and beauty company perhaps best known for its body-shaping apparel advertised on TV infomercials.</span></span></p>
<p><span style="font-family: Arial; font-size: x-small;"><span style="font-family: Arial; font-size: 11pt;">Alisha, who lives in Stoneycreek, was entered into the contest by her aunt, Beth Davis, a consumer blogger.</span></span></p>
<p><span style="font-family: Arial; font-size: x-small;"><span style="font-family: Arial; font-size: 11pt;">“We had a blast!” Alisha said of the May 8 prom, which she attended with her good friend, Joey Morrison, 17, of Latrobe.</span></span></p>
<p><span style="font-family: Arial; font-size: x-small;"><span style="font-family: Arial; font-size: 11pt;">Her makeover started with repairing the damage from an ill-fated attempt to bleach her hair, Alisha said.</span></span></p>
<p><span style="font-family: Arial; font-size: x-small;"><span style="font-family: Arial; font-size: 11pt;">That was taken care of by Angelito’s Hair Co. &amp; Spa and paid for by <span style="color: navy;"><span style="color: navy;"><a title="http://www.kymarobodyshaper.org/" href="http://www.kymarobodyshaper.org/" target="_blank"><span style="color: #2b5672;">Kymaro</span></a></span></span>. Her treatments included hot oil hair repair, dying of her hair back to its natural chestnut color and hair extensions, which she got to keep.</span></span></p>
<p><span style="font-family: Arial; font-size: x-small;"><span style="font-family: Arial; font-size: 11pt;">After a complete makeover provided by the salon, her family and friends were floored by the difference in her appearance.</span></span></p>
<p><span style="font-family: Arial; font-size: x-small;"><span style="font-family: Arial; font-size: 11pt;">“People didn’t believe it,” said Alisha, who wore some of the company’s shape wear. “My mom didn’t recognize me when she walked in.”</span></span></p>
<p><span style="font-family: Arial; font-size: x-small;"><span style="font-family: Arial; font-size: 11pt;">Her dress, shoes, jewelry and other accessories were paid for by the company, as was a luxury car and driver for the night. Alisha shared the chauffeur with two other friends.</span></span></p>
<p><span style="font-family: Arial; font-size: x-small;"><span style="font-family: Arial; font-size: 11pt;">Kymaro also paid $50 for tickets to the prom, which was held at the Hidden Valley Ski Resort and had a Parisian theme.</span></span></p>
<p><span style="font-family: Arial; font-size: x-small;"><span style="font-family: Arial; font-size: 11pt;">“Kymaro received 500 applications nationwide for its contest and chose five winners. The others winners were from California, Georgia, Utah and Michigan.</span></span></p>
<p><span style="font-family: Arial; font-size: x-small;"><span style="font-family: Arial; font-size: 11pt;">“It was a very hard decision as there were so many heart-warming stories, so many people we wanted to help,” said Romy Fazeli, creative director of <span style="color: navy;"><span style="color: navy;"><a title="http://www.twitter.com/kymaro" href="http://www.twitter.com/kymaro" target="_blank"><span style="color: #2b5672;">Kymaro</span></a></span></span>. “We chose five applicants to win based on a number of different reasons, but overall we chose girls who were hard-working, good girls who really just needed a little bit of help when it came to their confidence.”</span></span></p>
<p><span style="font-family: Arial; font-size: x-small;"><span style="font-family: Arial; font-size: 11pt;">Alisha, who thought she might never have a normal life, hopes to attend business college and someday open her own spa.</span></span></p>

<p class="MsoNormal" style="margin: 0in 0in 0pt;"><span style="font-family: Times New Roman; font-size: small;"><span style="font-size: x-small;">Every young lady dreams of attending her high school prom, but for Alisha Lauren Pavlik of Somerset, hard economic times and health issues threatened that dream.</span></span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal" style="margin: 0in 0in 0pt;"><span style="font-family: Times New Roman; font-size: small;"><span style="font-size: x-small;">Pavlik is a typical 16-year-old who appreciates her family, loves to play the piano and guitar, and enjoys skateboarding and riding horses.</span></span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal" style="margin: 0in 0in 0pt;"><span style="font-family: Times New Roman; font-size: small;"><span style="font-size: x-small;">But when Lauren’s father was laid off from work and the family lost health insurance, she believed a big night out at her prom was out of the question.</span></span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal" style="margin: 0in 0in 0pt;"><span style="font-family: Times New Roman; font-size: small;"><span style="font-size: x-small;">When Lauren’s aunt read about a contest that </span></span><a title="http://www.kymarobodyshaper.org/" href="http://www.kymarobodyshaper.org/" target="_blank"><span style="font-family: Times New Roman; font-size: small;"><span style="color: #2b5672; font-size: x-small;">Kymaro Health</span></span></a><span style="font-family: Times New Roman; font-size: small;"><span style="font-size: x-small;"> and Beauty/Spa Essentials was conducting with a grand prize of a dream prom experience, she promptly entered her niece.</span></span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal" style="margin: 0in 0in 0pt;"><span style="font-family: Times New Roman; font-size: small;"><span style="font-size: x-small;">“I am a mommy blogger at </span></span><a title="http://theplussizemommy.com/ blocked::http://theplussizemommy.com/" href="http://theplussizemommy.com/" target="_blank"><span style="font-family: Times New Roman; font-size: small;"><span style="color: #2b5672; font-size: x-small;">theplussizemommy.com</span></span></a><span style="font-family: Times New Roman; font-size: small;"><span style="font-size: x-small;"> and I heard about the contest,” said Lauren’s aunt, Beth Davis of East McKessport,</span></span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal" style="margin: 0in 0in 0pt;"><span style="font-family: Times New Roman; font-size: small;"><span style="font-size: x-small;">She said she knew her niece wanted to attend her prom but was having a difficult time. “I decided to enter it myself on behalf of her.”</span></span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal" style="margin: 0in 0in 0pt;"><span style="font-family: Times New Roman; font-size: small;"><span style="font-size: x-small;">This is the first year that the company has conducted the contest, “Say Yes to the Prom Dress,” and they received more than 500 entries from all over the county.</span></span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal" style="margin: 0in 0in 0pt;"><span style="font-family: Times New Roman; font-size: small;"><span style="font-size: x-small;">“With all of the news recently surrounding teens who have battled traumatic experiences because of low self-esteem, we felt that we could make a difference in a few teens’ lives and help prevent some of these stories from happening,” said the beauty company’s creative director, Romy Fazeli Alahmari. “That is when we launched “Say Yes to the Dress” contest, a nationwide contest where teens were asked to tell us their stories on why they weren’t able to attend their proms via a one-page essay. Whether it be because of financial issues, family related experiences, poor body image or social incidents, teens submitted their inspirational stories on why they weren’t attending their proms.”</span></span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal" style="margin: 0in 0in 0pt;"><span style="font-family: Times New Roman; font-size: small;"><span style="font-size: x-small;">The company chose five winners who all received a $2,000 prom package, which included hair styling, makeup, a dress, jewelry, a limo and tickets to the prom.</span></span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal" style="margin: 0in 0in 0pt;"><span style="font-family: Times New Roman; font-size: small;"><span style="font-size: x-small;">“When my aunt called me and told me I had won, I literally started screaming and jumping up and down,” Pavlik said. “I was overly excited.”</span></span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal" style="margin: 0in 0in 0pt;"><span style="font-family: Times New Roman; font-size: small;"><span style="font-size: x-small;">Pavlik was visited by hair and makeup experts who proceeded to transform the teen into a prom queen.</span></span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal" style="margin: 0in 0in 0pt;"><span style="font-family: Times New Roman; font-size: small;"><span style="font-size: x-small;">“They colored my hair and put in extensions, so now it’s pretty long,” Pavlik said. “They also did my nails and my makeup and pretty much pampered me like a princess.”</span></span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal" style="margin: 0in 0in 0pt;"><span style="font-family: Times New Roman; font-size: small;"><span style="font-size: x-small;">Pavlik chose her own dress and accessories and attended the May 8 affair at Hidden Valley with her best friend, Joey Morrison.</span></span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal" style="margin: 0in 0in 0pt;"><span style="font-family: Times New Roman; font-size: small;"><span style="font-size: x-small;">“We had a blast,” Pavlik said of her prom. “They (friends) almost didn’t recognize me.”</span></span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal" style="margin: 0in 0in 0pt;"><span style="font-family: Times New Roman; font-size: small;"><span style="font-size: x-small;">“Prom is a momentous event for women and everything involved in prom, including hair, makeup and transportation becomes very impressionable among young ladies today,” Alahmari said.”We thought that we could help five girls attend their dream prom. Five girls who did not have the best of lives, five girls who we can truly help in shaping their future.”</span></span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal" style="margin: 0in 0in 0pt;"><span style="font-family: Times New Roman; font-size: small;"><span style="font-size: x-small;">For one young Somerset girl, the contest did change her life.</span></span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal" style="margin: 0in 0in 0pt;"><span style="font-family: Times New Roman; font-size: small;"><span style="font-size: x-small;">“The most memorable part of all this was how much of a change there was in how I looked,” Pavlik said, “That, and how much fun my friends and I had.”</span></span></p>

<p class="MsoNormal" style="margin: 0in 0in 0pt;"><a title="http://www.newkymarobodyshaper.com/" href="http://www.newkymarobodyshaper.com/" target="_blank"><span style="font-family: Times New Roman; font-size: small;"><span style="font-size: x-small;">Kymaro Beauty</span></span></a><span style="font-family: Times New Roman; font-size: small;"><span style="font-size: x-small;"> and Health Essentials asked teens to submit a one page essay on why they don’t want to attend their prom. Winners would receive a $2,000 makeover, which includes a new prom dress and accessories, two free prom tickets and transportation to and from prom. </span></span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal" style="margin: 0in 0in 0pt;"><span style="font-family: Times New Roman; font-size: small;"><span style="font-size: x-small;">“It wasn’t so much that I didn’t want to go to the prom, it was going to be a financial stress. I just entered because money is kind of tight around our house,” said Couture, a senior at Centennial High School in Roswell. </span></span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal" style="margin: 0in 0in 0pt;"><span style="font-family: Times New Roman; font-size: small;"><span style="font-size: x-small;">Her family moved to Roswell from a town just outside Toronto, Canada, when she was a junior in high school. Starting over with no friends in a new environment was tough. “It was a real culture shock,” Couture said. </span></span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal" style="margin: 0in 0in 0pt;"><span style="font-family: Times New Roman; font-size: small;"><span style="font-size: x-small;">As time went on, she made friends and settled in. But the deep economic recession was affecting family finances, and Couture was slated to start college next year. The situation didn’t leave room for much money for prom essentials. </span></span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal" style="margin: 0in 0in 0pt;"><span style="font-family: Times New Roman; font-size: small;"><span style="font-size: x-small;">Then came word that out of more than 500 applicants nationwide, Couture was one of five chosen winners by </span></span><a title="http://www.twitter.com/kymaro" href="http://www.twitter.com/kymaro" target="_blank"><span style="font-family: Times New Roman; font-size: small;"><span style="font-size: x-small;">Kymaro.</span></span></a><span style="font-family: Times New Roman; font-size: small;"><span style="font-size: x-small;"> </span></span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal" style="margin: 0in 0in 0pt;"><span style="font-family: Times New Roman; font-size: small;"><span style="font-size: x-small;">“With all of the recent tragedies surrounding teenagers suffering from low self-esteem, we thought this would be the perfect opportunity to make a difference in a teenager’s life,” says Romy Fazeli, creative director of </span></span><a title="http://www.shapenslim.com/" href="http://www.shapenslim.com/" target="_blank"><span style="font-family: Times New Roman; font-size: small;"><span style="font-size: x-small;">Kymaro.</span></span></a><span style="font-family: Times New Roman; font-size: small;"><span style="font-size: x-small;"> “Stephanie truly stood out in our minds as she is a smart, motivated and sweet girl who happened to have faced a hardship within the past few years, and we felt this could turn her dream of attending prom into reality.” </span></span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal" style="margin: 0in 0in 0pt;"><span style="font-family: Times New Roman; font-size: small;"><span style="font-size: x-small;">Couture had three floor length gowns to choose from for the prom, which was last weekend. She attended with date Hunter Smith. </span></span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal" style="margin: 0in 0in 0pt;"><span style="font-family: Times New Roman; font-size: small;"><span style="font-size: x-small;">Winning the makeover made the whole prom experience much more special, Couture said. Without it, “I probably would have borrowed a dress and done my own hair and makeup. But then I would not have felt like everyone dreams of being, a princess for her prom.” </span></span></p>

That item would be a feather in the cap of any PR person.</span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal" style="margin: 0in 0in 0pt;"><span style="font-family: Times New Roman; font-size: small;">Jeffrey Conroy was convicted of killing Hispanic immigrant   Marcelo Lucero in a hate crime in Long Island New York. He&#8217;s in jail, awaiting sentencing on May 26th.   Written by Manny Fernandez, the fawning article softens the image of Conroy, and may result in a lighter sentence. <p class="MsoNormal" style="margin: 0in 0in 0pt;"><span style="font-family: Times New Roman; font-size: small;">Amidst pictures of his smiling, All-American looking family, we learn in this page-long NY Times story at:  </span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal" style="margin: 0in 0in 0pt;"><span style="font-family: Times New Roman; font-size: small;">He&#8217;s 19 years old &#8220;and it shows…. he has the face, the demeanor and the vocabulary of a boyish teenager.&#8221;<br />
Sub-text: He&#8217;s young and made a mistake – Give him another chance. </span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal" style="margin: 0in 0in 0pt;"><span style="font-family: Times New Roman; font-size: small;">He was a &#8220;friendly, athletic teenager willing to stick up for others, of someone who counted several Hispanics among his closest friends, including the girl he had been dating off and on for years.&#8221;<br />
Sub-text: He&#8217;s no racist. </span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal" style="margin: 0in 0in 0pt;"><span style="font-family: Times New Roman; font-size: small;">He spoke of his &#8220;love and concern for his family: After the guilty verdict was announced in the courtroom&#8230; he turned and saw two of his sisters in tears, and told them not to worry, that everything would be all right.&#8221;<br />
Sub-text: His family will suffer too.   </span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal" style="margin: 0in 0in 0pt;"><span style="font-family: Times New Roman; font-size: small;">He spoke of &#8220;praying in his cell, for his family and for Lucero&#8217;s family&#8221; and his mother &#8220;had taught Sunday school for seven years at her church…&#8221; and his father is now &#8220;on disability… and is who a leader in organizing youth sports.&#8221;<br />
Sub-text: Good people – Religious &amp; helps kids. </span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal" style="margin: 0in 0in 0pt;"><span style="font-family: Times New Roman; font-size: small;">He was a &#8220;mentor to children… and helped coach 11-year-old football players at age 16, and spent one summer improving one boy&#8217;s lacrosse skills, because the boy&#8217;s mother had asked him to help her son.&#8221;<br />
Sub-text: He&#8217;s a good kid. </span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal" style="margin: 0in 0in 0pt;"><span style="font-family: Times New Roman; font-size: small;">He recounted confronting two white men outside a convenience store in 2007, defending a Hispanic man.  He warned men not to steal the Hispanic&#8217;s man bike &#8220;whom he believed to be an immigrant day laborer.&#8221;<br />
Sub-text: Conroy (the only of the 7 defendants who has received any media coverage) doesn&#8217;t hate Hispanics and in fact has helped some. </span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal" style="margin: 0in 0in 0pt;"><span style="font-family: Times New Roman; font-size: small;">A 40-year-old is quoted as saying: &#8220;I believe that he got roped into events that others had started, and being 17 and filled with testosterone, sometimes you do things that get the best of you before you can think about it clearly.&#8221;  (The next line goes on to state that: Conroy&#8217;s intent to kill was evident because the entire blade went into Lucero&#8217;s chest area and was stopped only by the handle.&#8221;)<br />
Sub-text: He made a mistake – Maybe don&#8217;t let him play video-games for a few weeks? </span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal" style="margin: 0in 0in 0pt;"><span style="font-family: Times New Roman; font-size: small;">The article ends by stating: </span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal" style="margin: 0in 0in 0pt;"><span style="font-family: Times New Roman; font-size: small;">If Conroy were not in jail, he said he could imagine the life he would be leading: playing midfield on a college lacrosse team, either at the State University at Albany or at Plattsburgh. And his thigh would no longer have the swastika. &#8220;It doesn&#8217;t mean anything to me at all,&#8221; Conroy said. </span></p>
